I fear Kali is Winning

During this dark period I have a fear, I fear that Kali is winning. By Kali I mean the Demon Kali not Godess Kāli. Godess Kāli and the Demon Kali are two different entities. Kali is a Demon and since the dawn of time he has been trying to over throw Dharma from existence. Dharma in Indian Philosophy has several meanings in several context — Dharma means Justice, it means Duty, Moral Code of Conduct and even Discipline. Dharma has multiple meanings and each of them signifies Goodness. So, in summary we can say anything that is Good is Dharma and anything that is not is Adharma.

Kali is the enemy of Dharma and he had tried everything to make Dharma weak. Dharma has 4 pillers which is explained with the metaphor of a Bull or a Cow in scriptures and these 4 pillars are described as 4 legs of Dharma. Each of these legs have a certain meaning.

1) Tapasya (Austerity/Hardwork)

2) Saucam (Cleanliness/Purity)

3) Daya (Kindness/Compassion/Mercy)

4) Satyam (Truthfulness)

Kali has been trying to break the legs of Dharma since forever. He had already broken 3 of Dharma's legs. In this dark era of Kali which is known as Kali Yuga and it is suppose to be the Era of Lies, Ironically in this era the leg of Truthfulness is still intact. Except Truthfulness or Satyam all other legs of Dharma have been broken by Kali.

In Indian Scriptures 4 Yugas or Eras are mentioned: 1) Satya Yuga: The Best among all 4 where Dharma was prevailing, 2) Treta Yuga: The Second Best as the leg of Tapasya was broken and Dharma was standing with only 3 legs, 3) Dwapar Yuga: The 3rd Best as the second leg of Dharma Saucam was broken and only 2 legs were remaining. And at the end of Dwapar Yuga Kali broke the 3rd Leg Daya & with this the 4th era Kali Yuga began. In Kaliyuga only the leg Satyam is still standing and it is Believed that only Truth can protect us in this era. The order of the legs being broken might vary but Satyam is the one which is still standing.

It may seem that this write up is taking a religious angle but no it is actually focusing on the moral behind all these myths.

In multiple religious scriptures of many different religions we have few similar concepts like the Greate Deluge and the concept of Apocalypse/The End of Days. It is been said that in future a day will come which will be the end of our world as we know it — in Christianity it is called Judgement Day and in Islam it is known as Kayamat. The story is also similar: Michael an Archangel of God will fight Lucifer the Satan and will bring the Biblical Paradise on Earth. A similar story can be found in Indian Scriptures as well and that is The 10th Avatar of Vishnu "Kalki" will fight the demon "Kali" and will bring the Golden Era (Swarna Yuga) on earth. 

Do we need to worry about this Apocalypse? Yes we do! But not because Micheal or Kalki is coming, rather because we humans are enough for that. I fear Kali is winning cause what ever Kali represents in all these mythical stories, what ever Satan represents in abrahamic myths, they all are real attributes of Humanity. Some of the negative ones which we all are capable of. 

Our mind is constantly fighting a war on Morales. Our mind is always trying to determine what is right and what is wrong. And we are easily influenced by negative feelings and teachings. Now people are able to spread Negativity faster than ever with the help of Internet. One wrong rumour regarding a certain community is enough to bring chaos in our society. And thousand good news won't be able to stop it or change the mind of people. Our mind for some reason choses negativity over positive feelings over and over.

I fear Kali is winning cause most of the time what I see is people hating each other for no valid reason. Hatred everywhere, selfishness everywhere, greed everywhere. We are too self centred, as much as so that we had stopped taking care of our own planet. We are destroying our nature, the balance of our universe and we are destroying our society as well. We really don't need Kali or Satan to destroy our world cause we had already kick started the process. There are plenty of ways to bring Apocalypse — a full fledged war because of our self centred nature or global warming is enough for that. The real Kali or Satan is inside us and we can slay them by rejecting our negative thoughts and idealogies and we can free ourselves from such shackles.

It is not yet late, we can still make everything right, we can still bring back the balance in the universe. We just have to keep on fighting for the cause which matters. We have to stop being self centred and fight for our world rather than ourselves. Let's refuse to hate, let's help eachother, let's stand towards Justice & Morality. Kali may have broken Hardwork, Kindness and one other pillar of Dharma but Truth (Satyam) alone can fix them back together. And the Truth is "Dharma" that is Justice, our Duty as a human being, our Moral Code of Conduct and everything that is Good. Our faith in goodness alone can fix it.
